Catherine and Julie's Chautauqua Wedding

The wedding was months ago but going through the gorgeous photographs again gives me chills, remembering the day; how much love and hope and positive energy surrounded Catherine and Julie.  Almost every picture of these girls shows them smiling ear to ear.  They love each other, a lot.  And it's no wonder why. Catherine and Julie were not only some of my most favorite brides, but are some of my most favorite people.  Their hearts are huge and after planning their destination wedding in Colorado (they live in Los Angeles,) I am happy to now call them my friends.

The wedding ceremony took place on the lawn in front of Chautauqua Dining Hall in Boulder Colorado, with the flatirons looming.

Soft bouquets of peonies, garden roses and hydrangea were created by Painted Primrose.  I enjoyed spending the day with the girls at my wholesale floral warehouse to pick out blooms for complementary centerpieces for the tables.

Catherine's family brought homemade jars of jam to give as favors.

On the morning of the wedding, the banquet captain at Chautauqua offered to share with us a vintage suitcase that he had just found at an estate sale, to use to keep cards in.

The reception was held in the tent behind the dining hall with a wonderful (mostly) vegan menu provided by Three Leaf Catering.

My first visit to Chautauqua was in preparation for this wedding and wow, what a cool place!  I can see why North Carolina native, Catherine was drawn to the historic buildings, adorable cabins and stunning views.  Julie went to school in Boulder and has fond memories of the area.  They were excited to share this special place with their family and friends.

Their cake was provided by Louisville's The Huckleberry.

Julie's smile is seriously contagious!

Did I mention that Catherine is a Hollywood movie star?

The whole wedding party is fit for a magazine cover.  How cute are those kids in their suspenders?

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention all of the other amazing vendors that had a hand in putting this dream wedding together.  Husband and wife photography team: Jamie Fischer Photography, Ceremony musicians: A Lyric Ensemble, Disc Jockey: Thomas Gutherie, and makeup by Bre Ortola with Alchemy Mineral Blends

Thank you Julie and Catherine for allowing me the privilege to be a part of your special day.  I can think of very few people who deserve all of the happiness that the two of you do.

Red and White Little Bird Booth

The photos are not of the highest quality since I took them with my phone, but I wanted to share some pictures of Little Bird Celebrations' booth at last Sunday's Wedding Preview and Vendor Showcase at the Dickens Opera House.  Little Bird Celebrations offers pre-made party kits, custom party styling, party planning, wedding planning and wedding coordination.
I went with a blue and red color scheme since my logo is blue and I had some red decor elements left over from my daughter's Strawberry Shortcake party, such as the big red balloon, streamers and straws.
I found this adorable red bird cage on sale at Hobby Lobby to fit the Little Bird theme.
Red Velvet cupcakes were purchased at Target and I added cupcake flags in blue, scallops and glitter red.
Other decor and party supplies included mason jars with daisy cut lids, red and blue paper straws, wooden spoons embellished with red polka dot washi tape, red dessert cups with dome lids and red and blue taper candles.  Contact me to order any of the featured party supplies.
I made business card envelopes out of mini chevron paper bags and red polka dot washi tape.  These were hung with clips on a red tissue paper fringe garland in front of my booth.
Please let me know what you think of my red and blue party theme.  Thanks for reading!

Kissing Booth

I was running out of new ideas for The Dickens Opera House bridal show booth this last weekend.  Then I decided to take advantage of the post-Valentine's Day left overs and sales.  I had red and pink giant balloons left from my daughter's birthday party the week before, these things last weeks to months!  Then I saw a post on Tater Tots and Jello for a free printable for a "kissing booth" banner.  I had the idea of setting up a kissing booth backdrop and I would take photos of the couples and post to the Dickens Opera House Facebook page.

I added pink and red tissue paper garland to the balloons' tails.
I handed out Hershey's Kisses chocolate, of course.
Not only was I able to find Valentine's candy on clearance but also appropriate decor.
I made props out of glittered foam.
Two willing Kissing Booth participants. :)

Shabby Chic and Organized

It's a New Year and its time to get organized.  If you are anything like me, the day after Christmas is over, you can't wait to put all your new toys in their place.  Out with the old, in with the new.  But I, probably like many others, am guilty in taking the boring way out; packing up all of the little trinkets and treasures away in a rubbermaid bin.  Why not incorporate your home decor style into the organizing though?  I love these Shabby Chic baskets, shelves and racks.  Check out my Etsy treasury and claim some for yourself.

Wedding Photo Shoot by Jesse La Plante

I was introduced to Jesse La Plante Photography at the Gay and Lesbian Wedding Expo.  Jesse and I started talking and thought that the Dickens Opera House, where I work, would be a fabulous venue for a wedding themed photo shoot.  Jesse would add some beautiful shots to his portfolio and we would gain some important marketing pieces for the Opera House.  I am blown away with how these pictures turned out! Take a look and let me know what you think.

I would highly recommend contacting Jesse La Plante Photography.  I would also like to mention that the intricate gown was on loan from The Bridal Connection of Longmont and Suzie's hair was done locally at The Spot Salon.  I would love to show you around the historic Opera House in Longmont, if you are ever in the area!
