Gold and Glitz

Have you seen that phrase going around on Pinterest, etc that says "my favorite color is SPARKLE?" Well if this describes you, why not add that glitz to your wedding theme?  The color gold is ornate, majestic and bold. Just like you!  It obviously symbolizes wealth but did you know the color gold also stands for good health and optimism?  Wouldn't you want all of these things to be involved in the start of your marriage?
Here are just a few ways that you can add a touch of gold to your wedding day:

DIY decor- It's amazing what a can of spray paint can do to unify a theme.  Incorporate the mason jar trend by spraying a glass jar gold, be careful not to spray the inside of the jar and add a straw so that none of your guests' mouths will be touching the paint.  Go even further in your DIY by making your own cake stand out of a platter and finial (from your local hardware store,) glue together and then paint.

Add touches of gold to your table decor by modgepodging (is that a word?) some gold velum paper to the outside of your glass votive holders.  I love the simple look of a bunch of varying heights of candles down a long aisle runner of a banquet guest table, opposed to the much more often used round tables.

Do you have that gold spray paint handy?  Repurpose empty wine bottles, paint gold, and use as flower vases.  Gold ribbon can be used to hang from your ceremony wedding arch or pin to a corkboard and hang place cards off of each ribbon for guest seating assignments.

A gold sash is a nice, regal touch to add to a white wedding gown.  Or go all gold, including these adorable gold peep toe pumps!

Another placecard idea adorned with an assortment of gold trinket tacks.  Gold chargers can be purchased, or rented from your event rental company, wrap gold ribbon around your menus or use gold napkins for each place setting.

Paint a plain birdcage gold and use as a card holder and your gift table. Don't forget to add a touch of glam to your cake as well.

  1. Check out this pink and gold wedding on 100 Layer Cake. They are using gold animals as place cards, like the ones that you can purchase in our store! (Click the SHOP tab above.) http://www.100layercake.com/blog/2012/10/30/pink-and-gold-california-wedding-taylor-joey/
